The Rock Pile Golf Club would offer six golf simulator rooms, a putting green, locker facilities and a bar and cafe, and would replace Greenwich Cross Fit. A special permit is required for a recreational facility to operate in a business/office zone, and site plan approval is also required from the Planning and Zoning Commission. The application has not yet been scheduled for a hearing by the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Plans have been submitted to create a “virtual golf” range at the site of Greenwich Cross Fit in Greenwich, Conn., CT Insider reported.
The Rock Pile Golf Club would offer six golf simulator rooms, a putting green, locker facilities and a bar and cafe, according to an application recently submitted to the town Planning & Zoning Commission. The 5,600-square-foot golf center would replace Greenwich Cross Fit operating there now, CT Insider reported.
According to the attorney representing the application, John Heagney, no exterior alterations on the building are planned.
A special permit is required for a recreational facility to operate in a business/office zone, and site plan approval is also required from the Planning and Zoning Commission, CT Insider reported.
The front of the complex eyed for the project houses the Citarella food market, and a lower level in the rear is taken up by medical offices, CT Insider reported. The site is owned by a limited liability corporation associated with developer John Fareri.
The Rock Pile operation would employ three people in the early portion of the day, and after 3 p.m., there would be five employees, including golf instructors, CT Insider reported. The business plans to operate from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays though Sundays, according to the application on file at Town Hall, and a liquor permit would be sought.
The site has enough parking to handle the new operation, according to Heagney, who noted that the proposed recreational facility “does not involve high demand and turnover that occurs all at the same time.”
The application has not yet been scheduled for a hearing by the Planning & Zoning Commission, CT Insider reported.
