Here are a few highlights from the big and small screens that you may have missed this summer.
Life imitates art. Do you remember the one-eyed gator responsible for Chubs’ missing hand in “Happy Gilmore,” starring Adam Sandler? CNN reported that a 50-year-old Tennessee man nearly lost his hand when he tried to retrieve his ball from a pond at a Venice, Fla., golf club. A resident alligator latched onto his right forearm and dragged him waist-deep into the water. According to officals, he fought off the gator with his left hand and sustained non-life (or limb) -threatening injuries.
Mickey Mouse Club. Disney Channel’s premiere of “High School Musical 2”—filmed on location at Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club in St. George, Utah.—became the most-watched basic cable program ever, according to Nielsen Media Research. The club achieved enviable visibility among the ‘tween set—future members, we hope.
Rolling Greens. A pair of aspiring filmmakers document a cross-country trip from Seattle to Boston on a Segway Personal Transporter in the film, “10 MPH.” Talk about a slow green speed.
