The 33,000-sq. ft. facility underwent a $4 million facelift and now includes indoor racquetball and volleyball courts, two lighted pickleball/paddle ball courts and a five-lane saltwater lap pool. It will offer 75 weekly classes and activities, including belly dancing, kickboxing and rowing. An “iZone” will be provided for kids.
PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., has opened its newly renovated, high-tech Sports & Racquet Club (SRC) for use by its members, resort guests and group attendees.
The 33,000-sq. ft. facility recently underwent an $4 million comprehensive facelift to make upgrades that include: state-of-the-art exercise equipment; indoor racquetball and volleyball courts, three aerobics studios with new sound systems; a five-lane saltwater lap pool; a spin room with video road mapping; two lighted pickleball/paddleball courts; 18 Har Tru tennis courts (11 lit for night play), and one lighted hard court with a hitting wall.
The SRC will offer more than 75 classes weekly and be staffed by 12 nationally certified personal trainers focused on individual service. Classes will include yoga, Pilates Barre, Zumba, belly dancing, Tabata Boot Camp, Tai Chi, and an array of dance, strength and cardio sessions. TRX, cardio boxing, kickboxing, rowing and heavy ropes are also offered for high-intensity workouts.
Additionally, the SRC features the Power Plate machine, a muscle-activation device using whole-body vibrations to develop strength, power, muscle tone and definition.
The SRC is also offering a “Speed Pass” for young athletes. The monthly card provides access to three weekly classes specifically designed for pre-season sports training. The classes are based on the PARISI Speed School—a specific training program focusing on the essentials for sports movement, including speed, acceleration, change of direction, and total body conditioning.
For kids, SRC’s “iZONE” has the latest video game systems, computers for homework and a cardio wall to get kids moving. Classes for children (ages 8-15) will be offered.
The spacious, two-story structure also features a fashionable boutique offering the latest apparel lines in tennis and athletic wear, as well as a complete selection of sports drinks and beverages.
“With our vast number of classes and array of equipment that is the latest in fitness technology, our Sports & Racquet Club is now the premier facility for physical well-being in the Palm Beach area,” said Jen Orsi, Fitness Director. “Our professional staff is laser-focused on inspiring and enhancing the quality of life for our members, guests and group attendees.”
The SRC is part of the recent $125 million renaissance of the South Florida destination resort property, which has also included floor-to-ceiling makeovers of its 339 guest rooms and the creation of themed suites, a lakeside wedding/meeting venue and the iDECK, a 3,000-sq.-ft. terrace designed for indoor-outdoor entertaining.
These enhancements follow substantial previous improvements to PGA National’s member clubhouse, golf amenities, conference and meeting space, zero-entry pool, chef-driven Ironwood Steak & Seafood restaurant, and chic iBAR in its lobby.
PGA National Resort & Spa offers 90 holes of championship golf on five courses, including the Champion Course, home to the PGA TOUR’s Honda Classic and past host of the Ryder Cup, PGA Championship and several Senior PGA Championships.
