The Fort Myers, Fla., property has completed a five-month project that refreshed its 27-hole championship golf course, and updated the 26,145-sq. ft. clubhouse’s interior to include a new indoor/outdoor covered patio, doubling the available seating in the dining room.
Just in time for a new season, Pelican Preserve in Fort Myers, Fla., has a refreshed 27-hole championship course and a newly renovated clubhouse.
C&RB reported on the plans for the project in May 2016.
WCI Communities completed renovations to the Chip Powell-designed course at the 55-and-better lifestyle community. The five-month improvement project on The Heron course included a complete renovation of putting and practice greens, as well as a fine-tuning of the The Egret and Ibis courses, to align with United States Golf Association specifications.
“The seventh green redesign is particularly dramatic,” said General Manager Joe Smith. “Our golfers are giving it high marks!”
The clubhouse interior redesign updated dining venues and common areas. Renovations on the lower level of the 26,145-sq. ft. clubhouse introduced a new indoor/outdoor covered patio for alfresco dining. Enclosing the patio off the second level not only doubled seating in the full-service, members-only dining room, but it also provided a view of The Ibis course’s finishing hole.
Clubhouse amenities also include a banquet room and a state-of-the-art fitness center with spa treatment rooms.
“When we undertake improvements, our ultimate goal is adding value to our members’ experience,” said Smith.
Pelican Preserve’s 70,000-sq. ft. Town Center, Plaza del Sol, offers indoor fitness and swimming, arts and crafts studios, and a 99-seat theater. Dining options include the Destinations restaurant and Flip Flops, the poolside bar. Outdoor amenities include a resort-style pool, a new lap pool, tennis, softball and pickleball.
