For the second year in a row, the pastry chefs at Las Vegas’ Red Rock Resort have put a “homemade” touch on their holiday gingerbread creations by creating a replica of the hotel and property—this year with a “White Christmas” theme that imagines how a snowstorm might blanket everything for guests.
Pastry chefs at Las Vegas’ Red Rock Resort have once again put a creative “homemade” touch on their holiday gingerbread creations by creating a replica of the property, KVVU Fox 5 of Las Vegas reported.
The team from The Bake Shop at the resort has created a five-by-nine-foot gingerbread replica of its hotel and surrounding features, KVVU reported, this time with a “White Christmas” theme that show how the Red Rock property, which is located 10 miles from the Strip at the gateway to Red Rock Canyon, would look when blanketed by a snowstorm. (The resort offers a “Stay ‘N Sleigh” promotion through the end of December.)
This year’s gingerbread creation was made by 10 team members who put in 150 hours of detailed work to construct it, the resort says. Some of the ingredients used for it included:
- 50 lbs. of gingerbread
- 150 lbs. royal icing
- 9 lbs. of Rice Krispies treats
- 3 lbs. isolate
- 15 lbs. of fondant
- 35 lbs. sugar
- 25 lbs. modeling chocolate
The replica will be displayed at the center of the resort’s casino floor throughout the holiday season.
The Bake Shop team also created a gingerbread ski chalet inside the resort’s special holiday “Merry Crimson Tinsel Town,” complete with a miniature ski lift.
In 2020, The Bake Shop team’s first Gingerbread Hotel was constructed using these ingredients:
- 160 lbs. of chocolate
- 50 lbs. of sugar
- 40 lbs. rock candy
- 2 lbs. edible copper paint
- 60 lbs. fondant
- 30 lbs. butter cream frosting
- 40 lbs. Rice Krispie treats
- 80 lbs. of modeling chocolate
- 5 lbs. cocoa nibs
- 5 lbs. praline nibs
C+RB‘s inaugural Chef to Chef Conference was held at the Red Rock Resort in 2009.
