The City of Palm Desert is not planning to bail Palm Desert (Calif.) Country Club out, calling it a private matter between its owners and the bankruptcy court, reports the ABC affiliate station, News Channel 3.
Palm Desert Country Club owners, Randy Case, Larry Kosmont and Sung Sang Cho, declared bankruptcy in June. Now, they are unable to pay $150,000 to re-seed the golf course and keep the club running.
Palm Desert councilwoman Cindy Finerty told Channel 3 that the city has already done more than enough to help, “When the city did help in changing the zone to allow the owners to build 90 more houses, that was supposed to take care of all their financial matters. We did stress the need for an adequate reserve. Unfortunately, the money was not managed properly. The reserves were not kept up or we would not be where we are today.”
