The United States Department of Labor has adjusted Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) penalty amounts as of January 2, according to a news tip from Alan Achatz, CCM, CHE, of Club Safety Solutions, LLC.
For violations including those deemed “serious and other-than-serious” as well as posting requirement violations will cost $12,934 per violation. “Failure to abate” violations will cost $12,934 per day beyond the abatement date, and “willful or repeated” violations will cost $129,336 per violation.
States that operate their own Occupational Safety and Health Plans are required to adopt maximum penalty levels that are at least as effective as Federal OSHA’s.
