The American Culinary Federation’s Pittsburgh Chapter held its annual awards dinner last month at Oakmont (Pa.) Country Club, and during the event, the club’s Executive Chef, Chef Tom Pepka, was announced as the chapter’s 2008 Chef of the Year.
Pepka’s skllls and accomplishments while at Oakmont have been featured in several articles in Club & Resort Business, including “Oakmont’s Keys to Dining Excellence” (July 2005), “Beating the Heat” (November 2006) and “The Wealth of Experience” (September 2007). Pepka and Oakmont’s General Manager, Tom Wallace, are also featured presenters at this month’s C&RB “Chef to Chef Conference,” where they will provide attendees with a case-history look at how Oakmont nearly tripled its food and beverage sales during this decade.
