After a failed sealed-bid auction to sell the New Kensington, Pa. property last year, the owners will now put all of its assets up for sale on October 26, including 113 acres that is made up of three parcels in two zoning districts, as well as the clubhouse building and golf carts and equipment.
After a failed sealed-bid auction to sell the Oak Lake Golf Course in New Kensington, Pa. last year (https://clubandresortbusiness.com/oak-lake-gc-to-stay-open-for-2019-season/), the owners have decided to close the 18-hole course on October 24 and hold a public auction two days later, the Tribune-Review of Greensburg, Pa. reported.
All of Oak Lake’s assets will be for sale at the October 26 auction, including the land, building, golf carts and other equipment, the Tribune-Review reported.
The closure and auction are a planned exit for the Conley family, who “wanted to do something else with their time,” Sandy Alderfer, the Conleys’ real-estate agent and President of Tranzon Alderfer, a national real-estate auction company, told the Tribune-Review.
“There is no next generation to take over,” Alderfer added. Further, the family decided that golf north of the Mason Dixon line is not a growing entity, he said.
The Conley family wants people to know they are thankful and grateful for the business over the years, Alderfer added.
The course sits on about 113 acres that is made up of three tax parcels in two zoning districts: agriculture residential and industrial, the Tribune-Review reported. Some other allowable uses for the property include vineyards, a farm market, single-family homes and recreational space.
“The zoning allows a lot of stuff,” Alderfer said, adding that some developers have shown interest in the land.
“You could make some really nice larger home sites. There are spectacular views,” he said.
Mark Ferry Auctioneers Inc. of Latrobe, Pa. will auction off the golf course equipment and items, the Tribune-Review reported.
The ownership of Oak Lake posted this message on the course website:
