Over a dozen courses will allow participating golfers to play in jeans from February 1-7 for the “FORE & Feed” event, which requires a $10 donation along with a single-serve food item, on top of the participating course’s published rate.
Over a dozen North Carolina golf courses are planning to participate from February 1-7 in a FORE & Feed event sponsored by the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, reported The Pilot of Southern Pines, N.C. The event supports the effort of BackPack Pals, an organization devoted to feeding hungry children in Moore County, N.C.
The FORE & Feed Event will allow members and guests to play their respective courses wearing jeans, as a fundraiser for BackPack Pals, The Pilot reported.
Participating courses include: Foxfire Resort and Golf Club; Hyland Golf Club; Knollwood Fairways; Legacy Golf Links; Little River Golf and Resort; Longleaf Golf and Country Club; Midland Country Club; Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club; Mid South Club; Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club; Seven Lakes Country Club; Southern Pines Golf Club; Talamore Golf Resort; Whispering Woods Golf Club, and the Country Club of Whispering Pines.
Participating golfers will pay the course’s published rate, along with a tax-deductible donation of $10 and a requested single-serve food item from a list of needed items that includes single-serve cereal, nutrition bars, applesauce, juice boxes and raisins. Donated food items will be collected in specially decorated boxes located in each participating club’s golf shop.
BackPack Pals of Moore County was created eight years ago to meet the needs of children known to have little or nothing to eat on the weekend, The Pilot reported. The program began in one school with 25 children, and now encompasses 24 schools and 1,100 children.
