Golfers of all levels could soon have a new 9-hole golf course to tee off from at Atkinson (N.H.) Resort & Country Club. The club’s owners are planning a par-3 course that would be in addition to the current 18-hole course, according to Peter Doherty, the club’s Head Golf Professional, as reported in the North Andover Eagle Tribune.
Plans for the course will be up for review at the January meeting of Atkinson’s Planning Board.
“We’re trying to create a family-friendly golf course that would be enjoyable for anybody—for players at any level,” Doherty said. “I’m exceptionally excited about this. I think it’s a grand slam for us.”
In conjunction with the 18-hole course and a new learning center for golfers that is set to open at the start of the new year, the additional course will make it possible to accommodate a wider range of golfers. Work to build the new course would begin next year; like all of the resort’s facilities, the new golf course would be open to the public.
