Paul Hanson said he knew “it was going to be kind of an uphill challenge” to maintain the condition of the course, but “we are on the right path now.” Hanson plans to increase parties and events at the clubhouse, and seven tournaments are planned for the season on the golf course.
Limestone (Maine) Country Club has a new operator in Paul Hanson, the Presque Isle, Maine WAGM 8 reported.
All the golf courses in the area have had to battle Mother Nature, and Hanson said that he knew that taking over the course this year would provide some other challenges, WAGM reported.
“I knew it was going to be kind of an uphill challenge with the condition of the course,” Hanson said. “That was pretty easy to overcome and we are on the right path now it is going to take some time. The weather in June has not been great, but I think that good things are coming in the next month or two.”
Hanson has been successful in the foodservice industry and working at golf courses in other parts of the state. He said he hopes to utilize the clubhouse for parties and reunions, and that he is looking to host several events on the course, WAGM reported.
“We are hosting seven golf tournaments this summer so things are looking up,” Hanson said. “I think the more we get the word out the more activity we will have going on here.
”[We’re looking to] keep [the golf course] in tip top shape not only for the short term, but for the long term. I believe we are on the right track. I have some good people working with me and I have a lot of support from the members to keep things going.”
The Charity Challenge will be held at Limestone Country Club on July 23, WAGM reported.
