The public is invited to join members and guests for the groundbreaking that begins the construction of the new Jim Engh-designed, par-72 layout, set for a late 2014 opening. The “new” Minot (N.D.) Country Club recently announced that the official groundbreaking for the new golf course is set to take place July 17, 2013.
The public is invited to join members of the club and special guests for the groundbreaking that begins the construction of the new Jim Engh-designed golf course. Scheduled for opening in late 2014, Minot Country Club will offer a par-72 layout that features dramatic views and elevation changes, a natural stream and valley, and a modern design that takes full advantage of the land’s features.
“The groundbreaking of the new Minot Country Club marks the beginning of a new chapter in our club’s history, and also for the community of Minot,” said Mark Hildahl, Board Member. “We are excited for this day and are even more excited for the opening of what will become one of the most inspiring club openings in the region, if not the country.”
The original Minot Country Club, which was built in 1928, was located on a different site and suffered from devastation incurred from the flood of the Souris River in 2011. Shortly thereafter, a group of members decided to rebuild a “new” Minot Country Club. They acquired property for the layout, tasked Jim Engh with the design and brought in OB Sports Golf Management for pre-opening consultation and ongoing management of the club.
The schedule of events will include a groundbreaking ceremony on-site at 3 p.m., followed by a reception at the Best Kept Secret in the Sleep Inn. The reception will include a “meet & greet” with Superintendent Chris Strange, and attendees will receive a chance to win door prizes from Real Deals, Home Sweet Home, Gourmet Chef and Art Main. In addition, Minot Country Club logo merchandise items will be available for sale, along with a Vintage Clothing Sale.
