“Clubology: The Science and Strategy of Being in the People Business,” offers real-world stories from a diverse sampling of club industry professionals—those in the people business—and analyzes each situation through the lenses of psychology and human behavior.
As award-winning club consultants, Laura Leszczynski and Ryan Doerr work with clubs and communities across the country under the business name Strategic Club Solutions. They noticed themes and patterns of excellence and struggles. One of the common denominators was a lack of understanding about human behavior. They saw how the industry focuses on the what but misses the opportunity to explain the why or how.
So Leszczynski and Doerr decided to fill the gap by writing the book called “Clubology: The Science and Strategy of Being in the People Business.” Clubology offers real-world stories from a diverse sampling of club industry professionals—those in the people business—and analyzes each situation through the lenses of psychology and human behavior. They dig into why did some tactics work. Which strategies could be improved? Their collection of stories, insights, and proven science weave together to teach best practices and learn from others’ experience and knowledge.
“We present to this audience nationally and the feedback was overwhelming consistent saying the information was fresh and offered a helpful perspective they hadn’t considered,” said SCS President Ryan Doerr. “It seemed like the logical next step to reach more people.”
