As part of its commitment to “offering a family-friendly atmosphere,” the private club in Jasper, Ala. is spending $400,000 on a new facility that will include dressing rooms and a pavilion and outdoor kitchen.
The membership and Board of Musgrove Country Club, a private club in Jasper, Ala., recently approved a $400,000 capital project that will replace a dilapidated, 40-year-old swimming pool with a new, state-of-the-art facility complete with new dressing rooms, pavilion and outdoor kitchen, reported the Jasper Daily Mountain Eagle.
“The old pool was in disrepair and had become a financial drain and eyesore. Our members and the community deserve better,” club President Alan Johnson told the Daily Mountain Eagle. “The local economy is on the rebound and we have a responsibility to compliment that growth.
“We are committed to offering a family-friendly atmosphere,” Johnson added. “This new capital project and the amenities it brings to the table will go a long way in providing that atmosphere for years to come.”
Demolition of the old pool, pavilion and dressing rooms began earlier this month, thanks to donated machinery and labor, the Daily Mountain Eagle reported. The new pool and family outdoor area is slated to open by Memorial Day 2014.
The club’s new zero-entry pool will be located in the same area as the old pool, but the dressing rooms, pavilion and outdoor kitchen will be located closer to the clubhouse bar, to accommodate more social functions. The pool’s pad will spill over to make a patio area for the bar, the Daily Mountain Eagle reported.
The new pool will feature a slide rather than a diving board, it was noted, and while it will be as large as the old pool, the maximum depth will now be six feet, the Daily Mountain Eagle reported.
Established in 1924, Musgrove Country Club also has a par-71 championship golf course, a tennis club featuring lighted rubico courts, and a full-service clubhouse with bar, grill and formal dining areas.
