After a two-year hiatus, the Mount Airy Golf Club in Mount Pocono, Pa. has officially opened for the 2009 season.
According to the Pocono News, the revamped course features more than 6,000 yards of challenging terrain featuring rolling, tree-lined fairways and multiple ponds, lakes, and streams. The 18–hole course also features ten holes that are touched by water, and over 90 sand traps.
“We are placing a heavy emphasis on customer service, including personal and junior clinics, competitive rates, and tournaments and corporate outings,” says Mount Airy Golf Pro Randy Vaskas, who took over operation of the newly opened course this year. “Players can come and play a round of golf and then enjoy the other amenities the resort has to offer, including our restaurants, bars, and the casino.”
Vaskas, who previously worked as a golf pro at the Philadelphia Country Club, says the course is appropriate for all skill levels, but notes that it will emphasize club selection. “This is not a course where you can just use your driver and wedge,” he says. “Smart players will make use of every club in their bag.”
