The Mizner Country Club Women’s Association (MCCWA) organized a Maui Strong fundraising effort at the Delray Beach, Fla. club to help families with basic needs such as food, medicine, and shelter. “It was heartwarming to see MCCWA respond to this humanitarian crisis so quickly,” says Mackenzie Lalov, Mizner’s Clubhouse Manager and Director of Marketing.
In response to the effects of the catastrophic fires that have devastated the Hawaiian Island of Maui, the Mizner Country Club Women’s Association (MCCWA) organized a Maui Strong fundraising effort at the Delray Beach, Fla. club to help families with basic needs such as food, medicine, and shelter. The MCCWA raised $5,025 from August 17-24. The donations are being sent to the Hawaii Community Foundation Maui Strong Fund.
The Hawaii Community Foundation Maui Strong Fund will provide resources for disaster relief with a focus on rapid response and recovery. 100% of all funds raised will be used to provide shelter, food, financial assistance, and other needed services to victims of the Maui fires.
“Watching the fire’s devastation on the Hawaiian Island of Maui, which has displaced thousands of residents, destroyed a centuries-old town, and killed over 100 people, we could not stand by and do nothing,” said Ruth Greenberg, MCCWA president.
She noted, “The MCCWA and the Mizner community are generous, caring people. I’m thrilled that our new Community Impact Committee (CIC) proposed this fundraiser to benefit the Hawaii Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund and that we were able to raise over $5,000 in five days to help the people of Maui whose lives were devastated by the recent fires.”
Greenberg noted that the effort shows the club’s character.
“Collecting over $5,000, we once again show the true grit of the Mizner community in coming to aid those suffering,” she said. “I would especially like to thank Randi Cannata, Hope Blum, Royce Gussack, Ali Canter, Stacy Botwinick and Carol Bourne, the MCCWA team that assembled this MCCWA fund-raiser in 24 hours. A special thanks to Mackenzie Lalov, Emily Lauderhill, and Sian Mora, the MCC staff who helped us publicize our fundraiser across the MCC community.”
Lalov, Mizner’s Clubhouse Manager and Director of Marketing, noted, “It was heartwarming to see MCCWA respond to this humanitarian crisis so quickly. Their efforts and the generosity of the Mizner Country Club community, with other contributors, will help the thousands of residents of Maui who have been displaced because of one of the deadliest U.S. wildfires in recent years.
