New design features reclaimed materials and furniture manufactured using green practices.
Mira Vista Golf and Country Club, El Cerrito, Calif., recently announced that they will be using reclaimed materials and furniture manufactured using green practices to redesign the club’s bar, restaurant, lobby and women’s lounge, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.
Primarily, the interior design team will incorporate furnishings that already had a life of their own in another home or business. When the designers can’t find pieces with a past, they will use new furniture that has been manufactured in a sustainable way.
“Today’s designs are all about combining sustainable materials, such as reclaimed wood, with other organic materials, and metals,” Kristina Wolf, the designer behind the Mira Vista remodel, told the Chronicle. “We pair this type of furniture with eye-catching textures and other organic materials.”
Part of Mira Vista’s sustainable remodel involves honoring what the original architect, William Radcliffe, had in mind when he designed the building.
“We redesigned the restaurant and lounge as areas that invite escape,” says Wolf. “With respect to the original architecture in mind, we want these spaces to serve as a getaway for a diverse crowd that may include people more interested in relaxing with a magazine than playing a round of golf.”
