According to a report by Pellucid Corp., a Buffalo Grove, Ill.-based consulting firm, May was flat for Golf Playable Hours (GPH). At the national level, GPH were up 0.5% this May, compared to 2008.
New data from Pellucid also showed that the utilization rate of rounds played in April showed nice strength, increasing to 51% or a gain of just over 2 points, compared to 2008’s national annual benchmark. Breaking this down, Pellucid saw a 1% increase in rounds against a 3% decrease in GPH, which suggests the industry was able to eke out a small gain in rounds despite unfavorable national weather.
