In his new role, Kennedy will be responsible for the direction and management of operations, services, and the staff of the resort’s Spa and Aquatics & Fitness Center.
Matthew Kennedy has been named spa director for the Spa at Wintergreen (Va.) Resort, the 11,000-acre, four-season mountain retreat atop Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains.
Kennedy previously served as assistant spa manager for Wynn Las Vegas’ Encore Spa, one of the property’s two spas that earned 5-Star honors from Forbes. Prior to that, he was employed by WTS International, Inc., a company that specializes in the planning, design and management of spas at lodging and residential properties worldwide. For WTS, he focused on its three properties as part of the Las Vegas-based Hilton Grand Vacations Club, as well as Trump Chicago.
The Spa at Wintergreen also is managed by WTS.
The Spa at Wintergreen has 13 individual massage and treatment rooms, two featuring horizontal Vichy showers. The spa menu includes a wide range of therapeutic massages; skincare treatments, including facials; reflexology, herbal body wraps, exfoliation, body polishing and a salon for men and women, offering hair styling, color, make-up, manicures, pedicures and waxing. Each of the treatment rooms, the fitness center, and the public lounge areas have windows from which to view the awe-inspiring Blue Ridge Mountains and the enormous valley below. The Aquatics & Fitness Center features a cardiovascular and strength studio, heated indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, steam rooms, and saunas and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
