Hurley has been a General Manager for various clubs in his 22 years with Troon and earned the company’s “General Manager of the Year” award in 2005, while at the Legacy Golf Club in Phoenix, Ariz. Bob Barrett, the current CEO and founder of Honours Golf, which was acquired by Troon in 2014, will now move to Troon’s Board of Directors as a Vice Chairman.
Troon® has named Matt Hurley as President of its Honours Golf Division, while Bob Barrett, the founder of Honours Golf and its current CEO, will move to Troon’s Board of Directors as vice chairman.
Honours Golf was founded by Barrett in 1998 and grew over the years to become one of the Southeast’s leading golf course development and management company. It was acquired by Troon in 2014 and has since operated as a subsidiary of the global brand.
Honours Golf currently operates 23 daily-fee, resort and private club facilities, including the King & Bear at World Golf Village Resort in St. Augustine, Fla.; Reunion Golf & Country Club in Madison, Miss., and the Craft Farms Golf Resort and Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Hurley joined Troon in 1997 from Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla., where he held the position of Facility Director, overseeing the operations of 72 holes of golf, three clubhouses and 100-plus employees. A graduate of Penn State University, Hurley also worked for Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, where he held the position of Director of Sales & Marketing and earned Starwood’s prestigious North American Platinum Sales Award.
In his 22 years with Troon, Hurley has served as a General Manager for various clubs, earning the company’s “General Manager of the Year” award in 2005. He was promoted to Area Managing Director in 2005 and to Vice President, Operations In 2010.
Most recently, as Senior Vice President, Operations, Hurley has been overseeing Troon’s growing portfolio of daily-fee, resort and private club properties along the East Coast, from New England to the Caribbean.
