Maryland Golf and Country Clubs in Bel Air, Md. is undergoing an exciting multi-million-dollar clubhouse and golf course renovation as part of its Vision 2022 Project.
Renovations to the clubhouse began this summer, with an estimated completion date of February 2023. Golf course renovations are scheduled to begin this fall.
“This is the most comprehensive improvements project the club has undertaken in decades,” said Boris Gradina, General Manager. “It will help MGCC retain its status as the premier private club in the area.”
This project is a continuation of the improvements to the aquatics facilities and construction of the Cabana Club that were completed in 2020.
Designed by SM+P Architects from Baltimore, Md., and built by Lewis Contractors, this project will give Maryland G&CC members renovated and re-configured bar, lounge, and formal dining areas. Renovation plans also include all restrooms and hallways in the upper level of the clubhouse and a refresh of the downstairs lobby area located by the pro shop.
The construction of a brand-new outdoor pavilion is scheduled for completion by February 2023 and will
provide space for outdoor dining with sweeping views of the golf course, as well as a covered bag drop off area.
Banquettes, booths, phone charging stations, and other comforts will be added to what will be known as the Family Lounge. Newly opened walls will give members in the Family Lounge a peek into the bar happenings. This area will also have more natural light and improved views.
The current Lounge Area will become the newly re-designed bar. This reimagined space will see the addition of high tables, seating, TV screens, and noise-absorbing ceiling tiles among other things. The newly opened walls will allow members to see from the bar area into the Family Lounge. The room will also feature more natural light and improved views. Adjacent to the bar area will be our new adult casual dining area with sweeping views of the golf course.
The current formal dining room will become the club’s Formal Dining/Wine Room. Members will enjoy select menu items in an upscale environment. The centerpiece of this space will be the new custom-built, temperature-controlled wine storage system that will be used for the site’s Wine Club.
On the golf course side, the club will have renowned golf course architect Andrew Green overseeing a project
that will see new sand bunkers, new and improved green surrounds, and other green enhancements to the course.
Gradina added: “By next Spring, we will have ourselves a revitalized property to complement our amazing staff and our valued membership.”
