Dan Miles, who has been GM/COO at the Bonita Springs, Fla. property since 2010, will retire from club management in October to take a position with Club Benchmarking. Miles will be succeeded by Fred Fung, who has been GM/COO of Charlotte (N.C.) CC since 2017, and prior to that was Bonita Bay’s Assistant General Manager under Miles for seven years.
The Bonita Bay Club in Bonita Springs, Fla. has announced that General Manager and Chief Operating Officer Dan Miles, who has held that position since 2010, will retire, effective in October 2019. Miles’ retirement will close a successful 37-year career in private club management, during which he managed four country clubs holding the Platinum Clubs of America designation.
Miles will then join Club Benchmarking, the Boston-based company that provided leadership solutions and business intelligence to the private club industry. Beginning in 2020, he will head the firm’s Midwest operation as Executive Director.
“This is a natural next move for Dan,” said Club Benchmarking’s CEO, Jim Butler. “His years of club experience and knowledge fits well with who we are and our data-driven approach to empowering general managers and boards.”
To succeed Miles at Bonita Bay Club, Fred Fung has been named the club’s new General Manager, beginning in November 2019. Fung has served as General Manager/COO for Charlotte (N.C.) Country Club since 2017. Prior to that, he was Bonita Bay Club’s Assistant General Manager under Miles, from 2010 to 2017.
“We are pleased that Fred will be returning to Bonita Bay Club,” said Peter Jones, Bonita Bay’s President. “Fred will provide for a seamless transition and a continuation of the great quality of leadership that we have enjoyed from Dan [Miles].”
