
John Lyberger, PGA, is moving from the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Fla. to the Scottsdale, Ariz. club, which is the only private community in the world with six Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses. Before moving to Ocean Reef, Lyberger was the Director of Golf at Congressional Country Club during a period when the Bethesda, Md. club hosted two U.S. Opens and seven PGA Tour events.
John Lyberger, PGA, has been named PGA Director of Golf at Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., the only private community in the world with six Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses Additionally, in early 2019 Desert Mountain will open a new, par-54 course and celebrate the reopening of its original course, Renegade, following an extensive renovation.
At Desert Mountain, Lyberger will oversee a golf staff of 75 employees serving 1,900 members across six golf courses and pro shops.
The Desert Mountain golf operation also includes a $1.6 million, state-of-the-art Jim Flick Golf Performance Center, which is equipped with the most advanced technology available in the industry today. This 6,500-sq. ft., one-stop facility addresses a full range of golf instructional needs, including technique, fitness, and mental-game performance.
Lyberger was most recently the Vice President of Club Operations at Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Fla., and before that the 20-year PGA Director of Golf at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. During his time at Congressional, the club played host to two U.S. Open Championships and seven PGA Tour events.
