Angel Park Golf Club in Las Vegas now provides Express Lane tee times on one of its two 18-hole golf courses each Saturday morning to golfers who commit to finishing 18 holes in 3 hours and 45 minutes or less.
Clubs and resorts are all too aware that time constraints on members and guests are having a negative impact on the ability to grow rounds. Enter Express Lane Tee Times.
Angel Park Golf Club in Las Vegas now provides Express Lane tee times on one of its two 18-hole golf courses each Saturday morning to golfers who commit to finishing 18 holes in 3 hours and 45 minutes or less. Although the exact times vary with the season, currently the five Express Lane tee times are from 7 AM to 7:28 AM.
“We elected to reserve our earliest starting reservations on Saturday mornings for customers who will commit to completing their round in 3:45 or less,” says Greg Brockelman, Angel Park’s Director of Golf . “We anticipated that this would appeal to many golfers who have a four-hour window to play golf, but do not have the five- or six- hour window typically needed on weekend days.
“We began our test of this concept in February and have seen some nice momentum build ever since,” Brockelman adds. “Over the last couple of weeks, the reservations were sold out a week in advance, with more and more golfers requesting to play during this time slot.
“As it continues to grow, we will continue to allocate more reservations each Saturday morning for these requests,” he says.
To ensure there is no misunderstanding, the reservationist reminds guests when they book their tee times that they must maintain at least a 3-hour, 45-minute pace. A note is also placed in an Express player’s golf car, and the starter provides a final mention.
Express players also sign an agreement stating that if they fail to maintain pace, their round may be interrupted to accommodate faster play. This interruption could include moving them to the other golf course, moving them forward into position, or moving them backwards behind the last Express Lane reservation. While every attempt is made to avoid an interruption, Angel Park must honor the agreement it made with the other Express Lane golfers (i.e. 3-hour 45-minute finish times, guaranteed).
“Our AM Course Host is vigilant to monitor the pace of these players, so as not to have anyone disrupt this program,” says Brockelman. “It is important for us to show that we are serious about this offering. To this point, it has not been a problem, and the golfers taking advantage of these reservations thoroughly enjoy it—they even try to beat their previous completion times.”
