I’m Rob Thomas with Club + Resort Business and this is your weekly Thursday Three. What’s happening on clubandresortbusiness.com?
No. 1 — Check out Joe Smith’s column – “The Level of Club Does Not Determine the Quality of Leader” Joe, the General Manager/COO of Countryside Golf and Country Club, offers some very important thoughts for search committees to consider when choosing executive management.
Do you have something to share? Shoot me an e-mail at [email protected].
No. 2 — Scroll down to the What’s New section … Our most read article this week was about shaky future of a Kentucky Golf Course. Maintenance costs per round at the Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park Golf Course have risen significantly, and the course generates the least revenue among Kentucky State Parks’ golf facilities. Built in a floodplain, the course is prone to damage from rain events, resulting in washed-out cart paths, bridge repairs, and closures that compound maintenance expenses.
Last, but not least … No. 3
Have you watched our latest episode of the Club + Resort Talks podcast? Wes Forester, PGA Director of Golf at Reynolds Lake Oconee joined me to discuss Richland—the seventh golf course at the Greensboro, Ga. property. The new 18-hole layout was created by acclaimed course architect Tom Fazio by combining nine holes from his existing National course with nine all-new holes.
I’ve got Frank Weed, CEO of Panther National on the next episode!
