The Country Club of Virginia (CCV), in Richmond, had special batches of fortune cookies made up to be handed out at monthly team Professional Development Seminars, and also made available in employee break rooms as a dessert option for all employees. The messages inside all cite one of the club’s “Platinum Basics” service standards—for example, “Anyone who visits the Country Club of Virginia will receive a warm welcome and a fond farewell.” The cookies are seen by CCV management as “just another way to repeat our Platinum Basics to all staff, so they may enhance every member’s visit to the club.”
