The city has agreed to pay the Oswego Lake CC $103,657 in the settlement.
The City of Lake Oswego, Oregon, has settled a lawsuit with a local country club that claimed to be owed more than $120,000 in overcharged fees, reports the The Oregonian.
City attorney David Powell said a deal with the Oswego Lake (Ore.) County Club was reached Thursday. The city has agreed to pay the club $103,657 in the settlement, he said.
“The city is satisfied that it’s a fair compromise of the legal dispute and is glad to move forward from here,” said Powell.
The country club sued the city last month alleging a miscalculation in the organization’s street maintenance fees caused them to pay at an inflated rate for six years. The lawsuit said the city acknowledged the error and refused to pay a refund.
Powell said the suit asked the city to reimburse the club $128,000 in claim fees and about $34,000 in interest.
The club currently pays $755 every two months in street maintenance fees but Powell said a pre-existing rate increase will begin on July 1. Club officials told The Oregonian in January that they were paying as much as $4,980 every other month due to the calculation error.
