The 95-year-old club features an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Ellis Maples, and will now increase its focus on non-golf programming and “maximizing time spent at the club,” according to Danielle Hopper, Billy Casper Golf’s Regional Director of Sales and Marketing.
The 95-year-old Kinston (N.C.) Country has selected Billy Casper Signature, the private-club division of Billy Casper Golf (BCG), for management of its clubhouse operations, golf course maintenance, marketing and sales, staffing and training, merchandising, golf instruction and financial management.
Opened in 1924, Kinston CC was originally meant to be a place in the “country” where members could have a permanent picnic area for eating and fraternizing. It was not until 1931 when legendary golf course architect Ellis Maples designed the club’s original 9-hole layout. Now, the well-respected championship course hosts numerous professional and amateur tournaments each year.
In addition to the golf experience, the club now serves as a community asset through activities such as tennis, aquatics and junior programs. Under BCG’s management, both golf and non-golf programming will be central to Kinston CC’s mission moving forward.
“Country clubs are not what they used be 20, 10, or even 5 years ago,” said Danielle Hopper, BCG’s Regional Director of Sales and Marketing. “Under BCG’s leadership, there will be more focus on maximizing time spent at the club. Both traditional golf and new alternatives will be essential to growing a vibrant and positive community.”
Located just over one hour southeast of the state capitol of Raleigh, Kinston CC is will be the first Billy Casper Signature property in North Carolina.
“Kinston Country Club looks forward to continuing to exceed members’ expectations by enhancing the overall experience for everyone who visits Kinston,” says Chip Harris, BCG’s Regional Director of Operations. “Billy Casper Golf’s marketing expertise will help to attract new members interested in everything [the club has] to offer,”
