Escalante Golf will also spend money to improve the Williamsburg, Va. resort’s club and guest experience during the next five years. The project will begin with renovating the fitness center in the resort’s sports club facility. Escalante officials presented the plan at a community open house and will host additional sessions to receive more feedback from community members.
The owner of Kingsmill Resort, Escalante Golf, announced it will invest $25 million into improving the Williamsburg, Va. resort’s amenities, club and guest experience over the next five years, The Virginian-Pilot reported.
The plan was presented at a community open house at Kingsmill Resort Feb. 22, The Virginian-Pilot reported. Escalante Golf, Kingsmill Resort and the Kingsmill Community Services Association Board showcased initial concepts and ideas with community members.
The plan begins with renovating the fitness center in the resort’s sports club facility, The Virginian-Pilot reported. However, the company has proposed improvements that will “touch every aspect of the resort,” including the resort’s gatehouses and its entrance.
Carter’s Grove Country Road, which runs through the community, may get new rest stations and amenities, called “nodes,” The Virginian-Pilot reported. These “nodes” could include exercise stations, shelters with bicycle repair stations and picnic stations.
Three potential locations for a new Kingsmill Community Park were also shared with the community, The Virginian-Pilot reported. The park would offer athletic fields, covered pavilion areas, a dog park and playgrounds, according to a news release.
Escalante Golf said that it is also committed to expanding the housing options at Kingsmill, with plans to build 240 updated units over 10 to 15 years, The Virginian-Pilot reported. Part of the plan would include 37 new single-family homes near the Kingsmill Plantation site. The homes would “reflect a modernized approach to the traditional colonial style,” the company said.
The expansion plan also includes a neighborhood of 129 townhomes, with units ranging from 1,800-3,500 sq. ft., The Virginian-Pilot reported. More homes would be on the eastern side of Kingsmill — 64 single-family homes with lot sizes as large as 1.9 acres.
The Kingsmill Community Services Association will hold meetings in March and April to solicit feedback from the community regarding proposed ideas and concepts, The Virginian-Pilot reported. More detailed information is expected to be shared this summer.
