Vikki Nicholas, the sole member of Midland Golf Club, LLC, purchased the Kewanee, Ill. club from longtime owner Roy Carver Jr. and will change the name to Midland Golf Club. The pro shop bar name will remain “Roy’s Place” in honor of Carver’s many years of stewardship and care of the golf course.
Kewanee Dunes Golf Club in Kewanee, Ill. has been purchased by Midland Golf Club, LLC, and will remain open as a public golf course and event space, the Kewanee Star Courier reported. The sale was finalized June 10, with Roy Carver Jr. selling to Kewanee resident Vikki Nicholas, sole member of Midland Golf Club, LLC, according to a press release.
“The outpouring of community concern has been gratifying,” said General Manager Colby Horsley. “I have gotten so many calls and questions from people who were worried that the Dunes would be closing.”
The business name will be changed to “Midland Golf Club,” in order to connect with the rich history of the property, which was established in 1911, the Star Courier reported.
Management will focus their immediate efforts on reopening the restaurant, which had been closed during COVID, and expanding event hosting facilities, the Kewanee Star Courier reported. The pro shop bar name will remain “Roy’s Place” in honor of Carver’s many years of stewardship and care of the golf course.
The club offers a 6,832-yard championship course with trees and ponds throughout the property. The practice facility has putting greens, a driving range and sand traps. There are also two full-sized tennis courts.
