The former Stone Creek Golf Course in Makanda, Ill., was closed for more than a year to renovate the clubhouse and bring the golf course back to life. The facility, now owned by Tim Chrzan and his son Jason, is now open for limited play.
After closing down for more than a year, Keller’s Crossing at Stone Creek, formerly known as Stone Creek Golf Course, in Makanda, Ill., has opened for business, the Carterville, Ill., WSIL-TV reported.
The course has been shut down for more than a year now, and after a lengthy renovation process it’s back open for play. New owners Tim Chrzan and his son Jason have finally been seeing their hard work pay off, WSIL-TV reported.
“What we’ve gone through this year to get this golf course renovated has been nothing but an exciting journey,” said Tim Chrzan.
Now the two want people to come out and tee it up at the new course. “We are open for limited play, it’s kind of an on-day basis depending on what we’re doing for work, so our members, their guests and then just call-ins,” added Jason Chrzan.
Club members who live near the course can’t believe how fast it bounced back. “The clubhouse was closed and we weren’t sure we would ever get it back,” said John Phelps.
People can now enjoy putting on greens that are actually green, WSIL-TV reported.
”We’re really excited, I mean they’re good, flat and smooth now but I can’t wait till next season when they’re a little more mature than 13 weeks,” said Jason Chrzan.
And people who’ve already played the course, have good things to say. “I’m thinking boy that was fun and I wonder whats for supper,” said Phelps.
Jason Chrzan said he never believed he and his father would ever own a golf course. “It’s my first one and my last one also,” said Tim Chrzan.
