Torresdale-Frankford Country Club in Philadelphia, which was acquired by The Union League of Philadelphia in July, is undergoing a renovation led by Judd Brown Designs.
This expansion, which includes a golf club, enhances the Union League’s offerings to its members. The first phase of the renovation, which began in October 2014, will cost an estimated $4-5 million and will include new facing of the clubhouse exterior, expansion and reconception of the dining room, a redesigned bar, interior upgrades including finishes and lighting, and a newly renovated pro shop. The project is expected to be completed in May 2015.
C&RB reported on the planned improvements in early October (“Improvements in Full Swing at The Union League Golf Club at Torresdale“).
The Torresdale-Frankford Country Club joins The Union League’s downtown club space and beachside private restaurant, The Bungalow in Stone Harbor. “We are looking to become all things to members, both personally and professionally,” said Patricia Tobin, Assistant General Manager of The Union League of Philadelphia. The club is located 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia’s city center and will offer a place for members to enjoy golf and other private club amenities such as dining and a swimming pool.
“Judd Brown is creative in a way that makes sense, his design recommendations combine form and function,” said Tobin.
“This is a very exciting project,” said Judd Brown, President of Judd Brown Designs. “The Union League of Philadelphia is regularly at the forefront of private club innovation and we look forward to helping them create another home for club members, offering the enjoyment of a golf club with luxury amenities in a beautiful space.”
