The Winter Park, Fla. club will build a replacement member locker room facility, a new golf training facility and new restroom amenities on the golf course, as well as relocate its golf pro shop to an expanded golf cart building. The golf course also will be re-grassed.
The Interlachen Country Club in Winter Park, Fla. plans to modernize its offerings with new buildings and more, the Orlando Business Journal reported. The private club will build a replacement member locker room facility, a new golf training facility and new restroom amenities on the golf course, as well as relocate its golf pro shop to an expanded golf cart building, according to Seminole County documents. The golf course also will be re-grassed.
Founded in 1983, Interlachen Country Club includes more than 270 acres split between Orange and Seminole counties, the Business Journal reported. In addition to an 18-hole golf course, the club also offers tennis, a resort-style pool, fitness area, on-site dining, social events and a croquet lawn.
The improvements will expand the total interior space at the club across all buildings from 66,811 sq. ft. to 74,402, the Business Journal reported. Project documents said the club was making the move to modernize some of its facilities.
The cost and construction timeline weren’t listed on project documents, the Business Journal reported. Executives with the club and with project consultant Brasfield & Gorrie were not available for comment.
The club’s pool, freestanding fitness center, and indoor/outdoor casual dining area were renovated in 2015, the Business Journal reported. The golf course was redesigned in 2007.
Meanwhile, Toronto-based private club consulting firm GGA Partners in its 2022 outlook found that many private clubs are figuring out how to make proper investments in facilities as many saw an increase in use due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as more people turned to outdoor activities, the Business Journal reported. Some of the amenities that have been top priorities for club members in North America have been additional pickleball courts and outdoor dining options.
“Ultimately, the goal of most private clubs in 2022 will be to build and preserve value,” GGA Partners wrote. “Not surprisingly, how clubs approach this will depend on geographical location, economic headwinds, client preferences, labor market and a host of other variables. GGA is bullish on the capability of club management professionals and dedicated board members to find proactive and advantageous solutions.”
