Long-term lease agreements for the Bristol, Tenn., and Asheboro, N.C., properties went into effect on July 1. The new additions expand Integrity Golf’s national portfolio to 33 golf facilities in six states.
Integrity Golf Company has signed contracts to oversee operations at Country Club of Bristol (Tenn.) and Tot Hill Farm Golf Club in Asheboro, N.C. Both long-term lease agreements were effective July 1.
Overall, the addition of both club expands Integrity Golf’s national portfolio to 33 golf facilities in six states (Florida, Tennessee, New York, Kentucky, South Carolina, and North Carolina).
In late June, Country Club of Bristol was acquired by Bristol Preservation LLC, a local Tri-Cities Tennessee group controlled by local businessmen Mitch Walters and Roscoe Bowman. Longtime real estate professional Tim Carter also is part of Bristol Preservation LLC.
“The whole idea behind this effort is to preserve this golf course and keep Tennessee’s oldest club alive,” said Walters, whose Friendship Family of Dealerships is one of the leading automotive companies in the Southeast. “We didn’t want it closed and turned into a major development because you can never build it back once that happens. Integrity Golf gives us the opportunity to do that.
“This isn’t something that’s going to be good just for us. It’s really great for the entire community. Great for the Tri-Cities region. Great for golf and for the state of Tennessee too.”
The current 18-hole course was built in 1958 by Morristown, Tenn., golf course architect A.G. McKay on land which was then known as the Gray and Bentley properties. Titles to the Gray family tracts date to land grants issued in 1800 by the Commonwealth of Virginia, and were signed by then-Virginia Governor and future U.S. President James Monroe.
“We look forward to partnering with the Bristol Preservation team,” said Integrity Golf president/CEO Gene Garrote. “We’re eager to start sharing our expertise and local knowledge with this landmark property. This is a beautiful golf course with a rich history and we’re excited about the future viability of this Tri-Cities treasure.”
Tot Hill Farm GC is an upscale daily-free property located between Pinehurst and Greensboro. The critically acclaimed course designed by the late Mike Strantz is stunning from an environmental perspective, bounded on three sides by the Uwharrie National Forest and Uwharrie Mountains. The majority of the course meanders through the Uwharrie wilderness, with the last few holes of each nine opening up into the rolling hills of a real-life country farm complete with a 200-year-old farm house.
“Tot Hill might be one of the newer courses but it’s really become a favorite of local golfers and avid golfers who travel to this Pinehurst market,” Garrote said. “It’s a stunning property and CC Pharr and his group have done a wonderful job preserving and integrating the surrounding environmental beauty. This is a hidden gem, but it won’t be hidden much longer. CC Pharr and his group have been really dedicated to the overall success of this property and we look forward to taking it to the next level.”
