The Greensboro, N.C. club closed last week just before its previous management company ES2 Sports & Leisure, declared bankruptcy. Florida-based Integrity Golf Co. has been selected to manage Forest Oaks when it reopens, the course owner announced to members in a letter.
The owners of Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. have selected Florida-based Integrity Golf Co. to manage the country club when it reopens, the Triad Business Journal of Greensboro reported. That reopening could be in a matter of days, the Business Journal reported, pending the approval of bankruptcy court.
Forest Oaks CC closed earlier in April just before ES2 Sports & Leisure, a Raleigh, N.C.-based firm which had managed the club since April 2013, declared bankruptcy (http://clubandresortbusiness.com/2014/04/18/reopening-delayed-proehlific-club-forest-oaks/). ES2 had managed the club under the name Proehlific Club at Forest Oaks, through a licensing deal with former NFL player Ricky Proehl and his Proehlific Park fitness complex in Greensboro.
The club was padlocked and closed off to its membership on April 15, with no notice to members and employees, who found their personal belongings locked up in the clubhouse (and now tied up in the bankruptcy proceedings), the Business Journal reported.
In a letter sent on April 22 to Forest Oaks members, course owner Tadashi Hattori, with Tokyo-based Nisshin Corp., announced that Winter Park, Fla.-based Integrity Golf Co. had been selected to manage the club, the Business Journal reported.
Staff with Integrity came to Greensboro immediately following the Forest Oaks closure to assist Hattori with a plan to reopen the club, the owner said in his letter.
“We are hoping to hear some more positive news from the [bankruptcy] Trustee this week and get confirmation on the reopening date,” Hattori added in the letter. “The future of Forest Oaks Country Club could not be brighter, and we are excited to be able to restore the club to the level of service all our members deserve, as soon as the court allows.”
Integrity Golf Co. owns and operates a mixture of 22 public, semi-private and private golf clubs, primarily in Florida, the Business Journal reported. Other clubs in the Carolinas that it is connected with include The International Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Thistle Golf Club in Sunset Beach, N.C.
Just before Easter, Forest Oaks grounds crews were allowed to resume work maintaining the course, the Business Journal reported, and that work has continued to plug and sand the greens, several club members told the Business Journal. Forest Oaks’ owners had to receive approval from the bankruptcy judge to regain access to the club’s facilities and equipment so maintenance work could resume, it was reported.
Trustee Charles Ivey III, a Greensboro attorney, said in the week before Easter that he was working as quickly as possible to have the club reopened for members and the property removed from the bankruptcy proceedings, the Business Journal reported.
