Construction on the 70-by-25-foot heated pool has begun and is expected to be complete by mid-June. The $500,000 facility will include a full-service bar, dedicated snack bar, restrooms, and changing rooms.
With the goal of attracting more members, especially young families as members, the Indiana (Pa.) Country Club is adding an outdoor swimming pool, the Indiana Gazette reported.
General Manager Sarah Rupert said the club’s board of governors voted unanimously in March to build the pool. Construction has started and the 70-by-25-foot heated pool is expected to be completed by mid-June, the Gazette reported.
The pool is being built adjacent to the club’s ballroom patio, between the golf course’s number 18 green and the driving range. There will be a full-service bar and snack bar dedicated to those using the pool, and pool patrons will be able to order from the club kitchen’s full menu. Restrooms and changing rooms will be adjacent to the pool which will be open to members and their guests, the Gazette reported.
Rupert said the board of governors decided on a pool as the amenity that likely will attract more members. Other country clubs across the nation have rejuvenated declining memberships by adding a pool or renovating existing pools, she said.
According to Rupert, the $500,000 pool will not require a dues increase or an assessment. Similar to a golf membership, club members will only pay more if they wish to use the pool. Pool privileges will be added as an a la carte option to membership dues at varying levels from $400 to $900 for individuals, couples and families, the Gazette reported.
Rupert said it’s calculated the pool can be added as a break-even proposition if a minimum of 30% of the club’s 330 members sign up to use the pool, the Gazette reported.
