Indian Wells Golf Resort has new leadership with plans to offer a different experience to residents and guests just in time for the desert’s peak season.
The Indian Wells (Calif.) Golf Resort named Lon Grundy as its new General Manager earlier this month. Grundy is the third general manager since the Indian Wells Golf Resort reopened in 2008, and the second to take over operations under Troon Golf.
Grundy replaces Rich Carter, who came to the city-owned resort in 2009. Carter left Indian Wells for a corporate position in Arizona, officials said.
“We want to utilize the facility in new ways in an effort to provide an active alternative to enjoying our beautiful courses,” Grundy told The Desert Sun.
Part of that effort will be to introduce health and fitness programs to patrons of the resort this fall.
He said the resort also has plans to offer incentives—from early dining options and late afternoon golf—to guests that encourage usage of the facilities during non-peak times in the high-demand season.
Prior to moving to Indian Wells, he worked three years as the general manager of Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
