The tournament will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club and The Concession Golf Club in Sarasota, Fla.
In the world of golf, an experienced caddie not only carries a player’s bag and makes club selections, but is aware of the challenges and obstacles of the golf course being played, along with the best strategy in playing it, and becomes a player’s indispensable partner often giving insightful advice and moral support.
Although a staple on the professional tours, very few golfers get to experience the caddie/player relationship unless they are fortunate to be a member of a private golf course or resort. On both accounts a unique bond develops between a caddie and a player/member.
The award-winning Ritz-Carlton and The Concession Golf Clubs will honor those special relationships when 24 teams compete for the Laser Link Member/Caddie National Tournament championship title. The Member/Caddie format will be a four-person team consisting of three members and one caddie. Scoring will be determined from the two best balls out of four net scores based on 80 percent handicap.
“Members of clubs around the country develop special bonds with their caddies similar to that of a PGA professionals and their caddies,” stated Glen Murray, Director of Golf for The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club. “This tournament is a fun way to bring players and their caddies together to compete side by side against other like-minded golfers from all over the country.”
The practice round for the two-day tournament begins Nov. 6 with tee times available from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Golfers will play either at The Ritz-Carlton Members Club or The Concession Golf Club. The day concludes with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m.
The first round of the tournament is Nov. 7 at The Ritz-Carlton Members Club with a shotgun start at noon. The final round is the following day at The Concession Golf Club at 10:30 a.m., lunch buffet at 11 a.m. and the shotgun start is at noon. Scoring, cocktails, dinner and awards will follow on the Event Lawn of The Concession.
