Edgewood Valley Country Club in Burr Ridge, Ill. is in the midst of an $18 million renovation to transform the footprint of its nearly 100-year-old clubhouse and surrounding facilities. The goal is to enhance the member experience by expanding the club’s dining and event spaces and modernizing its infrastructure.
The project, referred to as Elevate Edgewood, is targeted to be completed around July 1, 2024. Beyond the expanded clubhouse dining and ballroom spaces, updates include: extended patio seating and three built-in firepits; expanded and shaded pool lounging; a poolside cabana bar; an indoor/outdoor first floor bar; and a second-floor terrace adjacent to the ballroom.
Edgewood Valley’s clubhouse was originally built in 1926 at the cost of $175,000 by Chicago architect Howard Van Doren Shaw and measured a little under 10,000 sq. ft. Throughout the years, the clubhouse gained additions in dining, locker room and event space that updated its size to more than 39,000 sq. ft. When Elevate Edgewood is complete, the clubhouse will gain nearly 10,000 additional sq. ft. of space.
A big piece of the renovation also includes updating the clubhouse infrastructure, from removing an antiquated boiler system to fixing an inefficient kitchen layout.
“After years of active planning and research, our members voted to approve the renovation’s financing and plan, knowing the end result would have a tremendous impact to satisfy the outstanding needs of the membership,” said EVCC President James Doehring. “There could not be a more exciting time at Edgewood Valley as we embark on this renovation of our historic property.”
The design of the new clubhouse and surrounding additions were developed by Charles Vincent George Architects, based in Naperville, Ill. Upon completion of a thorough competitive process, Valenti was selected as the construction manager for the project and will now bring the vision to life.
“Our goal is to always provide exceptional service to our members and guests, and we are confident this transformation will allow us to take our service to the next level,” said General Manager Paul Geallis, CCM. “Once this project is complete, our Clubhouse will finally be on par with the right service upgrades and style we have long envisioned for Edgewood Valley.”
