Members of the Boynton Beach, Fla. club raised $37,602 for the South Florida Alzheimer’s Association from their Casino Night. “It is rewarding to see our members, through their generosity, come together for causes that need it the most,” says Larry Savvides, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer.
Four years ago, a group of Hunters Run Country Club women decided to pay it forward to those with Alzheimer’s. Each year since, members of the Boynton Beach, Fla. club have raised money for the South Florida Alzheimer’s Association. And this year was no different, raising $37,602 from their “Casino Night.”
“From our first ‘Step Up Wellness Event’ four years ago, when we decided to donate proceeds to the Alzheimer’s Association, we try and exceed what we raised the years prior,” said Event Chair Heidi Rubin. “So far, we’ve been able to do just that!”
Rubin noted more than 200 community members came out to support this charitable event this year, with many more who could not attend personally showing an outpouring of support through donations.
“Our event committee worked tirelessly in planning this incredible fundraiser,” Rubin said. “The support we received from the Hunters Run members was overwhelming, as witnessed by their participation. We all recognize that we need to find a cure for this terrible disease that touches all of us directly or indirectly, whether it be a friend, family member, or fellow member.”
Larry Savvides, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, said “It is rewarding to see our members, through their generosity, come together for causes that need it the most. I am very gratified to work closely with these efforts and many other groups of dedicated Hunters Run members who share the same commitment to pay it forward.”
