To boost the overall member experience and appeal to multigenerational visitors, Boothbay Harbor Country Club in Boothbay, Maine, has maximized its reputation as a full-fledged fitness destination. The club’s wellness center, which opened in June 2018, built upon recent improvements to the golf course and came on the heels of a 2016 clubhouse grand opening.
The facility features a 1,800-sq.-ft. fitness pavilion, yoga studio, massage therapy room, cycling room and personalized fitness training room. Members also have immediate access to a heated salt-water pool, 12-person hot tub, two tennis courts and two pickleball courts.
As its central element, the fitness room is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows and includes a variety of cardio, strength training and functional training equipment. Separate training and fitness rooms and private offices for trainers that allow for one-on-one consultations with members are also provided. And designed with group training in mind, the center’s pool supports water aerobics classes.
“The wellness center was the perfect fit to be able to provide our members with exceptional amenities and the best all-around experience,” says Paul Coulombe, the club’s owner. “All aspects were designed around their comfort and enjoyment.”
