A shocking act of violence unfolded Nov. 25 at Sandhill Crane Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., leaving one man dead and another in custody. The incident, which police describe as a random act of violence, began near the first hole and escalated across multiple areas of the course.
Authorities allege that 36-year-old Junior Boucher attacked 65-year-old Brian Hiltebeitel using the victim’s own golf clubs. Witness accounts suggest the altercation turned fatal when Boucher pursued Hiltebeitel to a nearby pond, where he reportedly choked the victim and then struck him repeatedly in the head with a golf club.
Emergency responders found Hiltebeitel with severe head injuries and confirmed his death at the scene. Boucher, who was reportedly naked and acting erratically when officers arrived, fled the area but was subdued with a taser and taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Palm Beach Gardens Police Chief Dominick Pape stated that Boucher appeared to have no legitimate reason for being on the golf course, describing the attack as unprovoked and senseless.
The golf club remained closed for several days as investigations continued into the disturbing event that has shocked the local community. Boucher has been charged with first-degree murder and denied bond, with further restrictions barring him from contacting witnesses or possessing weapons.
