Pulte Homes purchased the acreage at the Tamarac, Fla., property for $10.2 million with plans to build on nine of the golf course’s 18 holes. Land development for 152 single-family homes will begin this month.
Prominent homebuilder Pulte Homes has bought 44 acres at Woodmont Country Club in Tamarac, Fla., for $10.2 million, the Miami-based Real Deal reported.
The Atlanta-based company purchased lots for 152 single-family homes within the club’s borders. It plans to build on nine of the golf club’s 18 holes. The homes will range from 2,400 sq. ft. to 3,320 sq. ft. and will be priced starting in the $400,000s, the Real Deal reported.
Brent Baker, president of Pulte’s Southeast Florida division, said in the release that affordable homes are experiencing “tremendous demand” in Broward. “There are many local families seeking to relocate to Broward for the schools, housing opportunities and overall quality of life. Interest is also strong beyond the local market.”
Keyes Company president Mike Pappas said last month at a new development showcase that the single-family home market under $500,000 is in demand, citing robust interest for such homes and a sharp decline in foreclosed and distressed properties, the Real Deal reported.
Pulte said in the release that land development will begin this month. Construction of the sales center and model homes are set to begin in late fall. They’ll be move-in ready as early as spring of next year, the Real Deal reported.
At an Urban Land Institute event in March, officials of some Broward cities cited the advantages of real estate development in the county. In Hollywood and Dania Beach, more than $1 billion worth of projects are in the works. Hollywood Mayor Josh Levy said Broward has “plenty of land for development and redevelopment,” the Real Deal reported.
As for Pulte Homes, this isn’t its first time acquiring golf course land. Last year, the company announced sales launches for 645 homes and townhouses at the Parkview at Hillcrest community golf course in Hollywood, the Real Deal reported.
