Golf-themed fare was prevalent during the recent U.S. Women’s Open.
After a long day on the greens, you’re going to have to fuel up. Jenelle Janci of Lancaster Online lists restaurants and vendors near Lancaster, Pennsylvania that offer food and beverage choices after a long day cheering on your favorite U.S. Women’s Open golf players.
Several local restaurants offered food, drink and event specials in correlation with the U.S. Women’s Open, which was recently held at Lancaster Country Club. The local restaurants offer creative ideas that match perfectly to the themes of a major golf tournament. These ideas can easily be implemented in golf and country clubs if major events come to town.
The Aussie and the Fox in Lancaster showed the movie “Caddyshack’’. A spokesperson from the restaurant said the screen can be seen from every table and bar seat in the restaurant.
For the sweet-toothed golf fan, there were many special creations by local bakeries. The Get Baked cupcake kiosk in the Park City Mall in Lancaster created a special cupcake for the U.S. Women’s Open featuring green frosting and a chocolate LPGA garnish. Lancaster Cupcake in Lancaster baked a special hole-in-one cupcake available in vanilla or chocolate cake with vanilla frosting, green sugar and a fondant golf ball. Miesse Candies of Lancaster had a special chocolate golf set in honor of the Open, featuring milk chocolate clubs and white chocolate golf balls, Lancaster Online reported.
The Greenfield in Lancaster created a special menu just for the Women’s Open with golf-inspired dishes including mulligan stew, hole-in-one sandwich, or go-for-the green salad. Wash it down with an Arnold Palmer, of course.
Other restaurants including The Waterfront and Yorgos in Lancaster had extended hours and Yorgos had special 10% discounts off of regular menu items for customers who presents a U. S. Women’s Open.
According to Lancaster Online, there were many area restaurants and establishments that created special events or signature dishes supporting the U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club to great success during the tournament week.
