The private club is seeking a food and beverage operator for its facility and hopes to have a new tenant in place by April 1, 2015.
The Hillsdale (Mich.) Golf & Country Club has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP), seeking a food and beverage operator for its facility, the Hillsdale (Mich.) Daily News reported.
With assistance from the Hillsdale County Chamber of Commerce, the club’s Board of Directors decided to issue the RFP after the previous operator, Rick Tropiano, chose not to renew his lease in 2015 so he could focus on operation of his popular Johnny T’s Restaurant and Banquet Hall, the Daily News reported.
The club hopes to have a new tenant in place by April 1, 2015. They are willing to entertain a variety of flexible lease terms as well as enter into a management agreement with the new operator for use of the club’s existing liquor license. The tenant will hold exclusive rights to all food and beverage service for any regularly scheduled or special event held at the club. The club remains open to the new tenant offering dining options to the public, including dockside service, the Daily News reported.
“The Board of Directors of the Hillsdale Golf & Country Club believe this is a unique opportunity for a creative establishment to serve our members and the public in a dining experience. Whether the menu centers on sandwiches and beverages, or has an upscale taste, we are committed to work with the proprietor to promote their success,” said Board President Steve Ross.
A community fixture since it opened in 1904, the club is a private, nine-hole Tom Bendelow-designed golf course with rolling hills and views of Lake Baw Beese. Its nearness to Downtown Hillsdale, The Hillsdale County Fairgrounds, Sandy Beach, and Baw Beese Trail, make it particularly suitable for the creation of a destination business, the Daily News reported.
“Destination businesses generate jobs and create demand for local goods and services, but equally important is the outside dollars they attract to the community, often referred to as “green money” that is not already circulating in our local economy,” said Chamber Executive Director, Christine Bowman.
Given the large up-front capital investment required to launch a restaurant, Bowman also feels the RFP is a superb opportunity for a start-up restaurateur or an established restaurateur seeking a growth opportunity, the Daily News reported.
