Age Group Winners of ‘Bay Area Winter Local Tour’ Receive Invite to World Championship in Pinehurst.
Half Moon Bay Golf (Calif.) Links, the world-class, 36-hole public golf resort set against the cliffs of the Pacific Ocean, will host the U.S. Kids Golf Bay Area Championship on Sunday, March 7th, with age group winners receiving invitations to the 2011 U.S. Kids Golf World Championship.
Approximately 200 junior golfers will compete for one male and female exemption per age group to the World Championship, held August 4-6 at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. Ages for competitors are six to 14 for boys and seven to 14 for girls with increased yardage for older players.
“We are excited to host the top junior golfers from Northern California for the opportunity to play in the World Championship,” says Bill Troyanoski, General Manager of Half Moon Bay Golf Links. “Half Moon Bay Golf Links has reached critical mass for hosting high-level professional, amateur, and junior golf tournaments, and this event is no different.”
The 2011 U.S. Kids World Championship is the largest and most prestigious junior golf tournament in the world. The three-day tournament attracts over 1,200 participants from across the United States and more than 30 countries abroad.
