Formerly Moss Creek Golf Club, the Clayton, Ohio clubhouse was destroyed in the storm and the course was closed for several years, but reopened this spring. Graywolf Golf Club in Clayton, Ohio will build a new clubhouse, the Dayton Business Journal reported. This comes as the city of Trotwood granted TPN Golf Properties LLC a 50% real property tax abatement.
The city re-established the entire municipality as eligible for community reinvestment area tax abatement on qualifying projects to help residents and businesses affected by a 2019 Memorial Day tornado, the Business Journal reported. Formerly Moss Creek Golf Club, the clubhouse was destroyed and the course was closed for several years, but reopened this spring.
“We are excited about the opportunity to offer tax abatement to help our residents and business owners,” said Quincy Pope, Sr., Trotwood City Manager. “This is another tool designed to stimulate revitalization, attract new residents and galvanize development.”
The clubhouse will have the expected services for members, but will also serve as a venue for weddings, banquets and other events, the Business Journal reported. A fully operational clubhouse could mean up to 10 full-time employees and possibly 30 part-time workers at the public course.
Tim Lambert, Graywolf Golf Club managing partner, said construction is expected to begin in the fall and the clubhouse should be completed spring of next year, the Business Journal reported. Reuben Schwartz is the builder.
Interest in Graywolf and its clubhouse could bolster home values in the Moss Creek area as well as income tax revenues, the Business Journal reported. Granting the abatement is just another step on the road to recovery from the tornado and revival of the city.
