“We are very excited to open our new spaces and bring a renewed energy to the membership of the Genesee Valley Club,” said Interim General Manager John M. Corey, CCM. “GVC has a long history of excellence since its founding in 1885, and the club is embarking on a new era of tradition for the future.”
Corey, the 2009 recipient of the Rising Star Award through the Excellence in Club Management Awards co-sponsored by the McMahon Group and Club & Resort Business (http://clubandresortbusiness.com/2010/06/01/home-grown/) has worked at GVC for a total of 25 years.
Ground was broken for the project last fall and completed in just over six months. The project grew out of a strategic plan designed in 2012 by the GVC Board of Governors, working in conjunction with the McMahon Group, and the facility project was approved by 91% of member voters.
Executive Chef Robert A. Fasce, Jr., who was featured in the October 2014 issue of C&RB (http://clubandresortbusiness.com/2014/10/14/essential-excellence/), expressed excitement over the capabilities of the expanded kitchen. “We now have a casual dining kitchen that is two times the size and supplied with state-of-the-art equipment, to really take our culinary program to the next level,” Fasce said. “We are extremely enthusiastic about the direction we are headed, and look forward to continuing to provide our membership with the premier private-club experience.”
The design/build team for the project included LeChase Construction, LaBella Associates and C2 Limited, an interior design firm.
