As C&RB has reported, since last November, Bobby Jones Golf Course in Atlanta, Ga., has been undergoing a $23 million reconstruction that entails transforming its 18 tees, greens, and fairways into a nine-hole reversible course, Curbed Atlanta reported.
While golfers looking to hit the links at the Memorial Park location will have to wait until November to set tee times, the rest of the reimagined property—including a new clubhouse and 12 fresh tennis courts—is expected to open by August, Curbed Atlanta reported.
The Bobby Jones Golf Foundation is leasing the 130-acre swathe from the state, which claimed the property in a surprising land swap by which the City of Atlanta secured ownership of a parking deck needed to move forward the Underground Atlanta remodel, Bobby Jones Golf Course.
The development caught some flak in March for what some called a “tree massacre”—the chopping down of some 800 trees impeding the project plans, according to Saporta Report.
The project is on track for its autumn ribbon-cutting. See the video below:
Developers have also put together a short video illustrating how far the course and club have come:
SG Contracting also put together a 360-degree panorama of the project, which can be viewed here.
